The major religion of Haiti is Voodoo. Pastor Pierre believes this is the root cause of Haitian poverty. If one is to fight poverty, one must go to its root. By promoting Christ and establishing His church in the villages, the root problem is addressed. Pastor Pierre reports that recently a witch doctor gave his heart to Christ, along with his entire family, in the nearby village of LaCoupe.

The witch doctor's clients protested, but he did it anyway. He died and went to be with the Lord. Now his wife and children are attending church on a regular basis. The staff of the New Testament Mission believes strongly if the people of Haiti turn from voodoo and give their lives to the Lord, their situation will change as stated in Matthew 6:33 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you."
